Frequently Asked Questions

About Iridescence Cares

Are you a shelter?
No. We are hoping to build a fostering network, but our main focus is TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) services for community cats.

How do you operate?
We operate entirely through the support of volunteers and donations. Every helping hand and contribution directly impacts the animals in our care.

Volunteering & Donations

How can I volunteer for Iridescence Cares, and what do volunteers do?
Volunteers are essential! They help with animal care, fostering, transport, fundraising, marketing, and special events.
For full information and to sign up, visit our Volunteer Page.

Can I sponsor a specific animal or program?
Yes! You can sponsor a pet in need, help fund a foster program, or contribute to a special project. Sponsorships ensure animals get the care they deserve. Contact us to learn more.

How are donations used?
Every donation helps animals in need. Funds are used to:

  • Provide food, medical care, and vaccines

  • Support fostering and shelter programs

  • Fund outreach and education about pet care and safety

  • Assist with transportation and emergency rescues

We strive for full transparency—visit our Our Commitment page for more details.

If I donate, can I write it off?
Yes! We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so monetary donations or supplies are tax-deductible.

Will I automatically receive a tax receipt for online donations?
Yes. Donations made through our website generate an official receipt for tax purposes.

Animal Care & Rescue Guidance

What should I do if I find a stray pet?

  • Take it to a vet to check for a microchip

  • Post on platforms like Find Toby and other local lost/found pet boards

  • Check with local shelters

What should I do if I find an injured animal?
Check our Resources Page for guidance depending on the species.

What should I do if there is a feral cat on my property?
Check to see if the cat’s ear is tipped. If not, contact us—we can provide a trap and help get the cat neutered and returned safely.

What should I do if I find a litter of kittens?
Leave them alone and monitor from a distance. Handling them may cause the mother to relocate them. If 48 hours pass and the mother hasn’t returned, contact us for assistance.

How old does a cat need to be to get neutered?
Cats should be at least 3 months old or weigh at least 3 pounds before being neutered.

Adoption & Surrender

What should I do if I need to surrender my pet?
Contact your local shelters—they are best equipped to assist and provide resources.

Can I drop off a stray pet at Iridescence Cares?
No. For everyone’s safety—including yours, the pet’s, and our guests’—please do not bring stray animals directly to the salon. Follow the steps on our Found a Lost Pet page for guidance.

Can I adopt a stray animal I found?
Not immediately. Stray animals remain the legal property of their owner for a certain period. Once the legal hold expires, shelters can guide you through the adoption process.
